Blokverse: A Brief History

Established in 2018, Blokverse is a startup focused on helping businesses and service providers bring efficiency and security to their business flows through the scope of Digital Identity.

Blokverse was established in 2018 as a specialized blockchain and digital trust unit within the Swiss-based Netcetera Group, with a clear mandate: translate emerging decentralized technologies into enterprise-grade, production-ready systems. From the beginning, the focus was not experimentation for its own sake, but building infrastructure that could operate under real regulatory, operational, and institutional constraints.

Early work centered on a core observation: in increasingly distributed and multi-party digital environments, trust cannot rely on bilateral agreements or closed systems. Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies offered a new integration layer for trustless environments, enabling verifiable data exchange without central intermediaries. Blokverse positioned itself around this architectural shift, focusing on identity, credentials, and verifiable data as the foundation of next-generation digital interactions.

This vision led to the development of verify.it, a full-stack platform for issuing, managing, and verifying digital credentials. Designed to address credential fraud and inefficient paper-based verification processes, verify.it introduced a standardized, tamper-resistant approach to skills and qualification verification. Built on permissioned distributed ledger infrastructure and governed through a consortium model, it provided institutions with a practical entry point into decentralized credential ecosystems.

Building on this experience, Blokverse expanded its scope beyond single-use credential platforms toward broader digital identity infrastructure. This resulted in the creation of Maenada, a modular product suite designed as a gateway into self-sovereign identity (SSI) and digital trust ecosystems. Maenada was architected to integrate with institutional environments, support multiple standards and protocols, and enable interoperable issuance, verification, governance, and compliance workflows. Rather than positioning identity as a consumer application, Maenada was developed as infrastructure: predictable, standards-aligned, and adaptable to regulatory frameworks such as eIDAS and emerging European Digital Identity initiatives.

Throughout this evolution, Blokverse recognized that technology alone does not solve adoption challenges. Enterprise and public-sector organizations face structural barriers when introducing blockchain-based systems, including regulatory uncertainty, legacy system integration, internal capability gaps, and risk management concerns. To address this, Blokverse developed a consulting and delivery model alongside its product portfolio. This offering supports organizations across the full adoption lifecycle, from early-stage education and strategic planning to proof-of-concept development, pilot deployments, and long-term production integration.

Today, Blokverse operates at the intersection of blockchain infrastructure, digital identity standards, and enterprise system integration. With Maenada forming the core of its identity and trust offering and verify.it serving as a specialized credential verification platform, the company continues to focus on building interoperable, compliant, and scalable trust frameworks for institutions preparing for the next phase of digital transformation.
